TOWN OF STEPHENSON MARINETTE COUNTY TOWN HALL
REGULAR BOARD MEETING
January 11, 2023
Supervisor Jim Stradal called the meeting to order in the absences of Chairman Mike Kudick. He led everyone in the pledge of allegiance. Roll call showed Supervisors Belanger, Franzmeier, and Stradal, Treasurer Kempka, Attorney Coggins and Clerk Olson, in attendance along with 7 others. Chairman Kudick was absent.
Supervisor Franzmeier moved to adopt the agenda with the removal of CSM’s and Operators licenses. Supervisor Rogers seconded the motion. Motion carried.
Minutes of the December 1, 2022 Special Board and the December 14, 2022 Regular Board were approved with a motion by Supervisor Rogers, second by Supervisor Belanger, and carried.
Treasurer Kempka’s financial report showed the following balances as of December 31, 2022
Stephenson National Bank General Fund $ 49,199.82
Nicolet Bank Tax Money Market $2,478,334.36
LGIF #1- Operating Account $ 72,882.61
LGIF #2 – 2% Account $ 51,035.64
LGIF #3- Depreciation Account $1,312,344.17
LGIF #4 – Tax Account $ 18,878.06
LGIF #5 – ARPA Account $ 156,463.73
A motion was made by Supervisor Franzmeier to accept the Treasurer’s report, seconded by Supervisor Belanger, and carried.
Vouchers #50866 through #50903, payroll charges, and EFT payments were approved as presented with a motion by Supervisor Rogers, second by Supervisor Franzmeier, and carried.
Under correspondence, Clerk Olson stated she had received information from Structures Unlimited, Old Republic Insurance, Tower Point, Attorney Coggins, the DNR, and the County Treasurer. Most of the info has been forwarded to the Board members.
Department reports were given for Fire by Chief Jim Stradal, Canine by Mike Stueck, Building Inspector by Clerk Olson, Recycling by Supervisor Belanger, and Superintendent of Public Works, Craig Baeten and Code Enforcer were not in attendance
Discussion on the repairs on the sand / salt shed ended with Supervisor Rogers making a motion to go with replacement of the entire roof. A second was given by Supervisor Belanger. Motion carried. Since the cost will most likely be over $25,000, it will be put out for quotes.
Supervisor Franzmeier moved to leave the airport lease amount the same as the 2022 rate. Seconded by Supervisor Rogers and carried.
An event permit was approved for Lakeside Bar and Hotel for January 28, 2023, for a Winterfest on Newton Lake, with a motion by Supervisor Rogers, second by Supervisor Franzmeier, and carried.
The information from Jen Bury of the Peshtigo River Center was tabled until February. Motion by Supervisor Rogers, second by Supervisor Franzmeier and carried.
Under Public comments: Supervisor Stradal stated the Fire Department received a $2,000 grant from the DNR for chipping at recycling.
Motion to adjourn at 7:12 pm by Supervisor Belanger, second by Supervisor Franzmeier, and carried.
