Shared Services Comm 2-8-24
TOWN OF STEPHENSON MARINETTE COUNTY TOWN HALL
Shared Services Committee
February 8, 2024 .
Chairman Kudick, Supervisor Belanger, and Supervisor Rogers, members of the Shared Services Committee for the Town of Stephenson, met with the Shared Committee of the Village of Crivitz in the Crivitz Village Board Room. Also present were Clerk Olson and 7 others. Meeting called to order at 5:30 pm.
The Committee members were given a binder with information pertaining to shared services of Police and Fire / EMS Services, which were gathered by the Village of Crivitz.
The Village is looking at patrolling the ETZ area (1 mile radius) outside of the Village. They are also willing to respond to anywhere else in the Town of Stephenson. They need permission from the Town in order to be able to respond without calling the MC Sheriff Department before doing so. Chairman Kudick stated that any area outside the ETZ area would be as an “on needed” basis only. The Village Officers would also be asked to help with Water Safety Patrol on weekends, under the direction of the Town of Stephenson.
The Officer stated that 1/3 of their call volume is outside the village limits. Chairman Kudick asked what the charges would be. It was stated by the Village President that there would be no charge in the ETZ area. If called to elsewhere in the Town, it would probably be a $60.00 per hour charge for the officer and patrol car as is what the charges currently are.
Chairman Kudick also requested that in the agreement, should the parties decide to move forward, there is an “out clause” of 1 year. The Village Attorney will draw something up and present it to the Town Committee.
There was much discussion on how the program would work and how to proceed. The Town Committee will bring the information gathered thus far to the Board meeting on February 14th to see if they wish to move forward on the agreement. There is a Shared Services Committee meeting set for March 1, should the parties decide to move forward.
Meeting was adjourned at 5:53 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Elaine Olson, Clerk
